The inn is situated in a lush natural area sandwiched between Kumihama Bay, famous for its oyster farming, and the shoreline of the Sea of Japan. This shore is lined with beaches, including Hakoishi Beach, Kazurano Beach, Kamai Beach, and Shotenkyo Beach, selected as one of Japan’s 88 best beaches.

Our creative kaiseki cuisine, crafted with plenty of the produce of the seas and mountains of Kyotango Kumihama, is exquisite. You can enjoy dishes cooked with meticulously selected ingredients unique to each of the four seasons.

The area where Shotenkyo is located, Kumihama, is dotted with a variety of sightseeing spots. If you walk a little further, you’ll find plenty of interesting sights and destinations, such as Kinosaki Hot Springs, Amanohashidate, Yuhigaura, Takeno, and Kami.

Northern parts of Kyoto, Hyogo, and Tottori prefectures, including this area, were set aside as the San’in Kaigan Geopark in October of 2010. Its magnificent terrain, which is blanketed with natural beauty, is a must-see.
